X-rated video could be coming to a cell phone near you. The NBC 10 Investigators uncovered the newest technology that will soon make pornography more accessible than ever. Reporter Lu Ann Cahn says that there is a battle brewing over how to keep it out of the hands of children. Most teenagers don't leave home without their cell phones, which is why some people are concerned about the next generation of cell phones. The adult entertainment industry says the future of porn is right here in the United States. Porn is going mobile. The movies, games, pictures and sex chats that have all been available in the privacy of your home are all about to make a big public leap to your phone without having to access the Internet. "It's crazy, just crazy," said Larry Wright, a parent. Actually, sex cell phones are already part of a $1 billion business in 30 other countries and they are expected to be exposed to the American public later this year. "I think it's horrible," said Janice Porter, a parent. "There's no doubt the morality police are out there and they are looking to stop anything having to do with adult content," said Steven Hirsch, Vivid Entertainment's chief executive officer. Hirsch's company is considered the leader in the sex cell phone industry. He said that cell phone users will be able to access soft porn video clips, erotic games and will eventually be able to directly interact with a live girl. "Hopefully it wouldn't be available to young kids with cell phones," said Marylou Donahue, a parent. "We don't want kids accessing our content, that's not why we do this," Hirsch said. "They don't take any action to protect against children now on the Internet, so the notion that they'll be protective on cell phones is nonsense," said Patrick Truman, of the Family Research Council. The Family Research Council in Washington has been in meetings with the Federal Communications Commission to suggest ways to limit cell porn access to anyone under 18, and this group plans to boycott any wireless phone company that carries it. "So, you'll find that your major companies -- Verizon and the big companies -- will never become pornographers," Truman said. But The Wireless Association isn't so sure. "It's a matter of -- when you get down to it -- (the) First Amendment. How do we control the right to free speech and the right to access this material," said John Walls, of The Wireless Association. Wireless companies are working on giving parents the tools to keep their children from easy access to porn on the phone. "You're going to need to have some kind of password, some kind of PIN number, there will be some access restriction put in place," Walls said. "I have children. I don't want my kids accessing adult content," Hirsch said. Hirsch thinks credit cards and age verification systems will keep kids out of his adults-only phone porn, but he agrees parents will have to take more responsibility. Some parents told the NBC 10 Investigators that cell phone porn is just another reason they will think twice about giving their kids a cell phone. "Not a chance, not a chance," Wright said. Vivid Entertainment said that once the wireless phone companies put a reliable system in place to check age and credit card information, it expects the sex cell business to take off.
