The battle began last year when Farrell sued to stop distribution of the raunchy tape of him having sex with former Playboy Playmate Nicole Narain, whom he accused of attempting to peddle the tape to video distributors.

"All parties came to an amicable decision that everybody agreed upon, which I can't disclose yet," said Sal Abbate, chief executive of adult video distributor Internet Commerce Group, which was also sued by Farrell.

In his lawsuit, Farrell had accused Narain of trying to distribute the tape, which was shot in 2003, through an intermediary and demanded that all copies of the movie be returned to him.

The 29-year-old star sued Narain, ICG marketing director Paul Nash and celebrity porn broker David Hans Schmidt over the alleged plans to circulate the sex tape.

Farrell claimed that no one has the right to license or distribute the tape and wants a court order barring them from selling it.

A judge granted the "Alexander" and "Phone Booth" star a restraining order banning the release or commercial exploitation of the film.

At the time, Narain had opposed the order blocking the circulation of the video, which Farrell contended was made on the strict understanding it would remain private.

The hard-drinking, chain-smoking actor -- known for his irreverent attitude and wild antics -- also asked for unspecified general, compensatory, incidental, exemplary and punitive damages.

But despite the court order, an Internet site in January offered viewers a brief peek at his intimacy until the site was shut down at Farrell's behest.

Neither Farrell's lawyers nor Narain's immediately returned calls seeking comment on the amicable settlement that will reportedly keep the tape, and Farrell's modesty, under wraps.

Celebrity sex tapes have become a hot commodity in Hollywood following the massive commercial success of those featuring Pamela Anderson and her then husband Tommy Lee, another starring celebrity socialite Paris Hilton and a third featuring actor Tom Sizemore.

Playboy Playmate Nicole Narain made the appeal on US TV show Live and Direct, stating that since clips have already been released on the Internet, the pair may as well cash in on the tape.

She said, "I didn't expect it to be made public. But why not take control of the situation. It's in our best interest."

But Narain vehemently denied suggestions she had leaked the romp onto the web herself, hinting her tape may have been stolen during social gatherings at her house.

She said, "We both have a copy. I'm not going to say I haven't had numerous parties."

Farrell, who has refused to comment on the affair, named Narain in a law suit seeking an injunction on the video's release.

LOS ANGELES - 8/12/05- A judge has extended a temporary restraining order barring an ex-girlfriend of Colin Farrell from marketing a tape of them having sex.

Farrell's lawsuit against Playboy Playmate Nicole Narain says they made the videotape 2 1/2 years ago with the understanding that it would never be made public.

Last month, Superior Court Judge David Yaffe blocked Narain from selling, distributing or displaying the 15-minute tape. On Wednesday, Yaffe extended the order.

The lawsuit by Farrell, 29, accused the 31-year-old woman of working with the owner of an Internet pornography business and contacting the news media about the tape.

Leodis Matthews, a lawyer for Narain, said her client had not attempted to profit from the tape, but wanted to keep her half of the rights to the video.

Farrell's lawsuit said the release of the tape would irreparably harm him and his career.

The actor's screen credits include "Alexander," "S.W.A.T.," "Daredevil" and "The Recruit."
