Candy Barr, born Juanita Dale Slusher in either Edna, Texas or Alvin, Texas, on 6 July
1935, was the stage name of an American burlesque dancer and occasional porn movie actress
and magazine model.
Having established herself on the burlesque strip-tease circuit, in 1951 Candy Barr starred in one of the most widely circulated of the early underground pornographic movies, "Smart Alec" or, more rarely, "Smart Aleck". She was 16 years old but appeared substantially older. In the brief movie she has sexual intercourse with a man in a hotel room but then refuses to perform fellatio on him. When he insists, she telephones a female friend who comes to the room and services the man. In a notorious case, Candy Barr later served three years in prison for the possession of a small amount of marijuana and became fairly widely known by posing for pictorials in a number of men's magazines.
