Pornography and the Internet in the United States

Pornography and the Internet in the United States Charles Hogg, 1999. He wrote this while a Master's student in Library Studies at The University of British Columbia.

Includes a short legal history of internet censorship and pornography in the United States, and definitions of pornography and obscenity.

There are arguments against the censorship of pornography (Wendy McElroy) and arguments for censorship (Susan Easton, Raymond Gastil, Leo Groarke and Lorenne Clark).

The pros and cons of censoring porn are made with consideration to John Stuart Mill’s "harm principle" which states that "the only ground on which intervention is justified is to prevent harm to others; the individual’s own good is not a sufficient justification."

For examples of pornography on the internet, see Porn Sites.
